Crispy Fresh Mozzarella Sticks or Steaks!
Ingredients:
- 3 balls fresh mozzarella or 1 package of mozzarella sticks
- 2 eggs
- 2 tbsp water
- 1 1/2 cup cornflakes crumbs
- 1 tsp salt (divided in two)
- 1 tsp black pepper (divided in two)
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp dried parsley
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1/2 tsp ancho chile powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 cup flour
For Frying:
Vegetable or Corn Oil
For Serving:
Homemade Basil Spicy Marinara Sauce
Instructions:
Cut the fresh mozzarella into 1/2” slices (if you are going to use mozzarella sticks, unwrap them). Place the cornflake crumbs in a medium shallow bowl and add salt, pepper, all the seasonings, and mix well.
In another shallow bowl whisk eggs and water. Set aside.
In a third shallow bowl, add flour with a little salt and pepper and stir to combine.
Coat each mozzarella piece in flour then dredge in egg mixture. Coat in flour one more time and dip into the egg mixture again. Lastly, coat in cornflakes crumbs well. Repeat with remaining mozzarella pieces. Transfer them onto a wire rack.In a large pot, heat oil to 350F. Fry the mozzarella pieces 3-4 min until golden brown and crispy as in the IG Reel. Remove the pieces and place onto a wire rack or on a paper towel-lined plate.
Serve with warmed Homemade Basil Spicy Marinara Sauce immediately!
