1. Here is well known for their aesthetic interiors and sweet treats
but did you know they also serve afternoon tea that’s now available at their Marble Arch branch
The afternoon tea consists of 5 savouries of which my faves have to be the wild mushroom quiche and smoked salmon blinis, could easily eat a whole plateful of these lol. Then we have the selection of 4 different desserts which were good I have to say but not particularly wowing (shout out to the macarons though). Plus the scones which were nice and warm and come with jam and clotted cream. Of course we can’t forget the actual tea lol which although is kinda limited in selection, the ones I did try were very nice, no complaints there.
All in all, it was a pleasant experience and I enjoyed majority of the savouries and dessert but l don’t think it’s something I’m eager to come back for. Does seem a bit overpriced to me especially as there’s no free refills which you would usually expect in afternoon teas. But if you’re looking for a cute and more casual afternoon tea spot, it’s a shout.

4. Check out the most beautiful display of doughnuts at Greedy Cow Bakes (Cambridge Heath)
From starting as a home business in lockdown to opening an actual shop just a few weeks ago, this is a bakery that needs to be on your radar. Specialising in artisan doughnuts, you’re completely spoilt for choice with their flavour range in addition to their fresh cream korean doughnuts, cheesecakes and other bakes
Would particularly recommend the kinder one!

5. Creamy and sweet creme patissiere with the brûléed top in a soft crepe cone - heavenly
Only wish the crepe was a little more crisp (if I’m being very picky lol) but apart from that it lived up to my expectations! They have a few other flavour and topping options too which I’m looking forward to going back and trying

6. Cute bakery/brunch spot alert
Let me introduce you Arapina (Greenwich & East Dulwich), a healthy lifestyle bakery specialising in vegan, veggie, gluten-free & sugar-free options. This place has the most cosiest vibes with all of the greenery and cushions and with such a variety of delicious bakes and all day brunch, there’s something for everyone
What I tried:
-Veggie breakfast *
-Mushroom croissant *
-Pancakes
-Raspberry Croll *
-‘Barbados’ smoothie
I enjoyed the veggie breakfast particularly the scrambled eggs which were super fluffy! The mushroom croissant was also really nice, it comes warm and the filling was so creamy and full of flavour - would highly recommend.
Being gluten free, the pancakes are a little different in texture and flavour to what I’m used to but these are great if you’re looking for a gluten free brunch option. Finally probably my favourite part was their scroll aka their vegan version of the supreme croissant! Although quite messy to eat, it’s so chunky and packed full of raspberry jam & cream
Overall, it’s such a delightful little bakery with so much to offer. Definitely save this for your next brunch date

7. Finally checked out the much loved dinner & date night at The Banc (Haringey)
What I tried:
-Banc money bags
-Wagyu beef sliders *
-Salt & pepper baby squid
-Yuzu miso black cod
-Lamb chops *
-Sweet & sour chicken *
-Truffle fries *
-Mocktails: rainbow unicorn,
strawberry daiquiri,
Virgin colada
For starters the wagyu beef sliders were my favourite. The meat was juicy with plenty of the bang bang sauce which was delicious. As for the money bags aka bao buns, the name is misleading imo, the beef brisket was soft and far from dry but it was kinda underwhelming in flavour. Baby squid was also a bit disappointing.
On to the mains, have to say all 3 delivered with the flavours! Couldn’t fault the lamb chops cooked perfectly to my request and went well with the chive gravy. Similarly the sweet & sour chicken was a hit. Miso cod had a lovely umami flavour and was soft and flaky but should have been skinned and fully deboned, especially for the price you pay. Shout out to the mocktails cause they were on point. And if you’re gonna get any dessert, let it be the Nutella cheesecake!
Overall, although some things were hit or miss, I did enjoy my experience here. It is a pricey place though and for that reason I was expecting high quality from all the dishes but for the ones I did enjoy I would defo come back for and recommend.

8. From establishing itself among the chai lovers in Dubai, this has come to the UK. At Filli Cafe (Marylebone)
Specialising in its signature ‘zafran’ tea and a variety of desi street food snacks, I was intrigued to try it out!
What I tried:
-Chicken tikka pizza *
-Dynamite chicken paratha roll *
-Manchurian Foodles
-Shami bun kebab
-Aloo tikki chaat
-Iced spiced zafran tea *
-Filli tea zafran *
Kicking it off with my faves, the chicken tikka pizza I really enjoyed. Cheesy, spicy and the makhani sauce is like the cherry on top. Similarly the dynamite chicken roll had a great spicy flavour inside the flaky paratha although it did get a little oily towards the end. Shami bun kebab and the aloo tikki chaat were good but nothing particularly special. Probably my least favourite was the foodles. Not to say it was bad but I just preferred the other things way more.
Now I’m not a tea person so I was sceptical to see if I’d like their famous zafran tea but wow, if you like saffron flavour then you’re gonna love this. Have to say I enjoyed the iced one more but I’d happily go back and get either.
Overall it’s a nice cafe with high quality drinks and delicious desi street food. Saw quite a few people with laptops out so I think this might become my new go to study spot

9. Have you tried Uyghur cuisine yet?
Well ep. 2 of underrated cuisines you need to try is dedicated to @turpanuyghur , a homely restaurant serving authentic Uyghur food just around the corner to Tottenham court rd. Being native to the north-western Chinese province of Xinjiang, expect qualities of Chinese, central Asian & Middle Eastern cooking to the cuisine
What I tried:
-Qoruma chop (stir fried noodles)
-Polu/pilaf
-Lamb skewers
The stir fried noodles are thick and chewy and coated in a chilli oil sauce which has just the right amount of heat You can definitely tell these are fresh and handmade. This dish can get a bit oily and I would’ve liked a few more beef pieces but overall excellent flavours!
The pilaf is very reminiscent of a afghani pilau with the carrots and and aromatic flavours which are subtle but enjoyable. Really enjoyed the salad that came with it too. Finally the lamb skewers came with a tasty spice rub sprinkled on top and on the whole the pieces were juicy but could’ve been more tender.
Overall, I was definitely impressed by the flavours and quality of the dishes. Missed out on the dumplings and samsa cause they were out of them but can’t wait to come back and you need to as well
In case you didn’t know, currently more than a million Uyghurs are being forcible held in mass detention camps in China where they are facing countless human rights abuses which have been condemned by the UN as crimes against humanity. Boycotting brands which use forced Uyghur labour, sharing posts on social media to raise awareness and donating to charities aiding Uyghur refugees are just some of the ways we can help. Support Uyghur businesses like Turpan as well!

10. Is this London’s next viral pastry? Cause it’s all about the croissant cube now!
Laminated dough neatly shaped in to a cube resulting in thin buttery layers inside a golden flaky exterior. Truly a work of art
Here are serving up 3 different flavours and I opted for the chocolate one which is filled generously with a dark chocolate ganache. Verdict: a perfectly baked pastry that tastes delicious. At £6 though it’s probably not an everyday thing but more of once in a while treat
Does this beat a supreme croissant though? lmk what you thin

12. Looking for a cute brunch spot serving Middle Eastern inspired dishes. At 215 Hackney (Woodbury Down & Stoke Newington)
then look no further. From walls covered in bookshelves & diverse artwork to the rustic furniture, it makes for a perfect cafe to curl up with a book or to study/work from
With an emphasis on locally sourced ingredients, there’s a wide range of dishes on the menu inspired from Syrian and Palestinian cuisine to English classics. Here’s what I tried:
-‘Morning Palestine’ *
-‘Damascus’
-‘Hackney Feast’
-Nutella French toast *
-Baba Ganoush *
Really enjoyed all the components in the ‘morning palestine’ particularly the Jerusalem bagel which paired lovely with all of the dips - would defo recommend the baba ganoush and muhammara. The merguez sausage in the ‘damascus’ adds a nice spice to the dish however the pitta could’ve been softer.
There were some inconsistencies with the ‘doneness’ of the fried eggs, I think it’d be good if they asked how you want them so they’re made to your preference. But other than that, I enjoyed the nutella french toast too which was soft and well balanced with the berry compote
Overall some great breakfast dishes that I’d certainly come back for! They also donate 20% of their profits to WarChild UK which is even more reason to go and support them

21. Tucked away on an unassuming street in Hackney, you’ll find this pastel pink bakery with quite the impressive display of desserts
At here, as their name would suggest, you can expect to find all things meringue from pies to pavlovas but they also do so much more!!
By far my favourite thing was the Passionfruit & lime meringue pie, sooo good excited to go back and try their other treats!

23. Wings lovers assemble, this is a place you do not want to miss!
From starting out as a small eatery in Highbury to opening two new branches late last year, including one in shoreditch, here are serving unique flavour combos and sauces you won’t find anywhere else.
My favourite of the burgers has to be their best selling fried chicken thigh burger. Perfectly crispy yet juicy chicken and plenty of sauce to compliment it. The venison one had a delicious flavour but I did think the meat could’ve been more tender. Although I don’t think the soft shell crab burger is for me, it would be great to try if you’re looking for something different.
The wings definitely stole the show though! Perfectly fried and coated and loved both the bang bang and burnt buffalo flavour. Now we have to talk about the sauces of courseeee. With over 12 different unique sauces to choose from they really are the icing on the cake. My favourites were the garlic parmesan and bang bang
Overall would seriously recommend this spot for wings and burgers! Far from basic or average. The cheesecakes were a nice end to the meal too

24. You know what makes me happy: brunch, a sunny day and a nice view, And here did not fail me
On the 15th floor of theMadera at Treehouse (Oxford Circus), you’ll find this Mexican restaurant and with all the foliage and greenery it kinda makes you feel like you’re on holiday lol
As for the food, we ordered both the waffles and the ‘build your own omelette’ opting for spinach, tomato, cheese and sausage.
🧇Waffles - Warm and crisp on the outside however I do wish they were fluffier on the inside. Apart from that, with the syrup, vanilla cream and berries it was actually very enjoyable and I’d get these again.
🍳Omelette - also very delicious! Sometimes omelettes can be a bit undercooked and mushy inside or too eggy but this was perfectly cooked and seasoned! The waiter was also kind enough to offer a halal alternative to the beef chorizo.
Ngl I initially thought this place might just be about the nice interiors/ views and lack on the quality of the food but I was pleasantly surprised! Not too expensive either for the location and service was pretty good too. I think I need to return to try their lunch/dinner menu next time
Lmk if you’ve been before and your thoughts on this place
